The short version. Sunlit Jar is a single-player puzzle game that runs entirely on your device. There is nothing to buy inside it, no advertising, no account to create and no online service to depend on. Install it, play it, and it is yours to enjoy.
Sunlit Jar is made and published by Sunlit ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app. If you are under the age at which you can enter an agreement where you live, please read these terms together with a parent or guardian.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Sunlit Jar on devices you own or control, for your own private enjoyment, in line with Apple's App Store Terms of Service. This is a licence to use the app, not a sale of it — the app itself and everything in it remains ours.
Sunlit Jar contains no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no virtual currency and no advertising. Nothing in the game can be bought, traded or exchanged, and nothing in it carries any real-world value. Progress and collected species are simply records of what you have solved.
There is nothing to register and nothing to log in to. The game does not connect to the internet, so there is no server that could go down, no leaderboard, no chat and no user-generated content. Your progress is saved on your own device; see our Privacy Policy for exactly what that record contains.
Because the save lives only on your device, it goes away if you delete the app, reset your progress in Settings, or lose the device without a backup. Please treat it accordingly — we have no copy to restore for you.
The name Sunlit Jar, the app's artwork, animations, audio, written text, level designs and code are ours and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms give you no right to use our name or artwork outside of playing the game. You are of course welcome to take screenshots or record video of your own play and share it.
We may release updates that add, change or remove features, and we may at some point stop offering the app for download or stop updating it. An app already installed on your device will keep working for as long as your device and its operating system support it; since the game needs no server, nothing we do can switch it off.
Sunlit Jar is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be free of defects or that it will run without interruption on every device. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or of saved progress, arising out of your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app, or to the minimum permitted by the law that applies to you. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement.
The app bundles no third-party services or libraries. Your download of the app is a transaction with Apple, governed by Apple's own terms; Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app.
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. Your licence ends automatically if you breach these terms, at which point you should delete the app; the sections on intellectual property, warranties and liability continue to apply afterwards.
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the place of business of Sunlit, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without depriving you of the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. Before raising a formal dispute, please write to us — almost everything is easier to settle by email.
If these terms change, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised terms.
